Benefits of Triple Offset Butterfly Valve

November 28

Hello readers, this time we talk about the advantages of Triple Offset Butterfly Valve. As we all know, Butterfly Valves are quarter turn valves and require only 90° rotation to come into action. The butterfly valves can be easily operated by pneumatic actuators and a manual hand lever or gear wheel. As per the central disc orientation, the Butterfly Valves are available in three types of offset designs: Zero offset or Concentric Butterfly Valve, Double Offset Butterfly Valve, and Triple Offset Butterfly Valve. A Triple Offset Butterfly Valve has 3 individual offsets. There are two offsets for the shaft in relation to the bore and a third offset for the disc/seat seal surfaces. The third offset is determined by the angle of the seat cone. All three designs and their diagrams were discussed in a previous article. Here we only talk about the advantages.

Advantages of Triple Offset Butterfly Valve

Provides Long Life

A triple offset Butterfly Valve has a third offset which provides a unique conical sealing design. Metal sealing parts are never in contact until the seals are fully closed due to this unique design. Because of this, consistent sealing extends the valve life.

Zero Leakage Performance

The Triple Offset design mostly comes with a metal to metal seat arrangement. This sealing bubble tight shut-off. As a result, we get zero leakage performance. The bubble tight shut off is the most preferred where minimal leakage cannot be executed like pharma industries, FMCG, petrochemicals, paint, etc.

Adaptability to harsh media

The triple offset design of the valve features no plastics or materials typically impacted by corrosion. Due to this, the valve can control all kinds of harsh media. The corrosion resistance parts provide long life to the valve.

Low Friction

The angular design of sealing parts provides frictionless operation inside the valve. This increases the valve’s durability and permits a smaller torque actuator to be fitted.

There are no gaps between sealing components, resulting in no blockage, and it provides low maintenance with extended valve life.
